Jamaica Pegasus Hotel – September 23, 2015
Racers Track Club hosted a luncheon for potential sponsors and other partners to provide an update on the proposed Racers Grand Prix International T&F meet, scheduled for Saturday June 11, 2016.
Representatives from many companies attended the Lunch by the organizers of the Racers Grand Prix.
Dennis Gordon, Public Relations Chairman took to the podium to start the event. Lunch was served and shortly after there was a video presentation which highlighted the purpose of the Racers Grand Prix.
The video showcased the talent at the Racers T&F Club and gave insights as to how the club is currently funded. The club provides for the athletes in many ways, lodging, transport, medical, and first class training are just a few.
Will racers athletes be paid at this meet?
After the video presentation, a small panel was assembled to answer a few questions. The panel included honoured guest, Hon. Dr. Usain Bolt O.J. C.D, who reluctantly accepted to join. His reluctance was as a result of Mr Bolt intention to ask a singular question instead of answering.
After a string of questions were posed and answered, Mr Bolt made swift use of a pause to asked his burning question, the reason he showed minimal resistance in joining the panel. His questions, of a personal nature, was: Will Racers athletes be paid at this meet? To which chairman Mills replied,
“The video was incomplete, All Racers athletes are sponsors.”
The response to Mr Bolt’s question and the answer provided by Mr Mills encouraged Daegu 100m World Champion, Yohan Blake to ask a question of his own.
Will there be any Clashes at this meet?
The question was posed to Mills who answered quickly saying that, of course there will be Clashes, however, at this time we are not at liberty to say who they are.
The interest in attending the Racers Grand Prix has been shown by many mangers and athletes alike and the OC is very happy with the dialogue thus far.
