Despite what sprint superstar Usain Bolt described as “a horrible start”, the triple world record holder ran a season’s best 9.88 seconds (1.0m/s) to win the Men’s 100 metres at Saturday’s inaugural JN Racers Grand Prix at the National Stadium.
Bolt stumbled out of the blocks, but regained his composure to catch the strong field, and took the lead with about 10 metres to go, before dropping his long arms to cruise through the line as four Jamaican men ran under 10 seconds. They all set season best times.
While declaring he has “the formula for winning”, Bolt admitted that his first race in front of a Jamaican crowd in about two years was not the best.
“[It] wasn’t a perfect race, but I still won and the good thing was I came out injury free.
