KINGSTON, Jamaica — The London 2012 Olympic 400m champion Kirani James of Grenada and rising Jamaican star Brianna Williams have been added to the stars for the JN Racers Grand Prix scheduled for Saturday, June 9.
The 25 year-old James, the 2016 Rio Olympic 400m silver medallist, will grace the National Stadium in the 400m against the likes of Americans Fred Kerley, Michael Cherry, Josephus Lyes and Jamaicans Demish Gaye and Javon Francis. Also in the race will be James’ compatriot Bralon Taplin and Matthew Hudson-Smith from Great Britain.
James, who has a personal best of 43.74 set in 2014, has been nursing injury for a while and missed the London World Championship in 2017.
He last raced on April 28 at the Drakes Relay where he finished sixth in 46.21 which was his slowest time in nine years.
Meanwhile, the promising 16 year-old Brianna Williams who won triple gold for Jamaica at the 2018 Carifta Games has been added to the women’s 100m.
The Ato Bodon-coached Williams, who is based in the USA, with a best time of 11.13 will match strides with American World champion Tori Bowie who has a personal best of 10.78. Also in the line-up will be Americans Candice Hill and Jenna Prandini along with fellow Jamaicans Natasha Morrison, Christania Williams and Remona Burchell, and Kelly-Ann Baptiste of Trinidad and Tobago.
